RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team scored the night's first goal, but could not overcome the No. 11 TCNJ Lions tonight at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The Blue and White suffered a 21-7 loss to the Lions in Cabrini's first game action since Feb. 20.
Cabrini's first loss of 2020 dropped the team to 2-1, while TCNJ improved to 4-0.
Juniors
Taylor Dimmerling and
Ashley Tutzauer joined sophomore
Dana Carlson with two goals and an assist on the night.
Carlson added four caused turnovers, three ground balls and a draw control to her stat line, while Dimmerling added two caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls. Tutzauer also recorded three of Cabrini's six draw controls.
Sophomore goaltender
Sam Hamalak posted nine saves and a game high five ground balls in the losing effort, while seniors
Mattie Porter and
Sarah McCarron and freshman
Victoria Zielke scooped two ground balls each.
Dimmerling gave the Cavaliers an early lead, but the Lions evened the score 30 seconds later and netted five unanswered goals before Tutzauer found Carlson for a Blue and White goal at the 17:25 mark.
Dimmerling and sophomore
Shea Neary added first half goals for the Blue and White, but a late TCNJ goal gave the Lions a commanding 15-4 lead at the half.
The quartet of seniors Alexandria Fitzgerald, Olivia Cleale and Kasey Donoghue and junior Erin Jaffe provided the bulk of the TCNJ offense, combining for 17 goals, while Cleale added five assists. Fitzgerald and freshman Anna Devlin also combined for 18 draw controls.
The Cavaliers will look to rebound on Thursday, as they head south on the Blue Route to visit Widener University (3-2). The opening draw is slated for 6pm in Chester, PA.
