IMMACULATA, PA - The Cabrini women's soccer team capped their shortened Spring season this afternoon with an exciting 1-1 draw against conference foe Immaculata.
The Blue and White controlled the pace for much of the afternoon as they finished with a 14-9 advantage in shots, as well as a lopsided 13-3 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman
Paige Bowman led the Cavalier offense with a game high four shots, all of which landed on frame, as well as tallying her first career goal. Senior
Maria Hagan added two shots and the helper to Bowman's strike, while junior
Kait Cloud chipped in a pair of shots.
Both Cabrini and Immaculata started fast as the Cavs registered a shot and a pair of corners in the first seven minutes, while the host Mighty Macs followed with a trio of shots on goal over the ensuing five minutes of play.
Senior
Ashley Tutzauer would anchor the Cavs' back line, however as the veteran netminder sent back all three Immaculata shots to keep things knotted at 0-0. Tutzauer would go on to finish the game with eight saves.
The action would slow over the next 20 minutes until Bowman took a pass from Hagan and delivered it into the back of the net to hand the Cavaliers a 1-0 lead at the 30:28 mark.
The Cavs' lead wouldn't last long, however as the Mighty Macs' Julia Schumacher would even things at one all just five minutes later.
Cabrini's defense would tighten in the second half and both overtime periods as they would allow just a pair of shots, both coming in the first extra period. The offense meanwhile, also turned up the pressure as they tallied 11 shots over the next 65 minutes. Unfortunately, Immaculata's Brooke Shissler was up for the task as she tallied four of her five saves after the first half.
As mentioned, following today's contest the Cavs cap their season with a 1-0-1 record. They will return to Edith Robb Dixon Field for their regularly scheduled Fall season this September.
