RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini baseball team capped their regular season this afternoon with a double header split against Immaculata University. In doing so, the Blue and White secured the league's No. 3 seed in the upcoming Atlantic East Conference Tournament.
Game One: Immaculata 29, Cabrini 13
The Cavs posted 13 runs on 14 hits, but it proved not enough as the visiting Mighty Macs exploded for 29 runs in the seven inning affair.
Sophomore
Gilbert Peralta powered the offense as he finished 3-3 with three runs scored and six RBIs. He highlighted his game one performance with a pair of home runs, including a second inning grand slam, for his team leading seventh and eighth home runs of the season.
Senior
Mack McKisson joined Peralta with three hits, including a home run of his own, while driving in a pair of runners. Classmate
Steven Priest added a pair of RBIs and runs scored, including his fifth homer of the season. Seniors
Justin Henry and
Sean Bernardo rounded out the Cavs with RBIs with one a piece. In total, 10 different Cavaliers marked the hit column.
On the bump, senior
Nicholas Gares was saddled with the loss after coming on in relief and allowing two hits and four runs without recording an out.
Immaculata's Mason Keller was credited with the win, despite allowing three runs in an inning of relief.
Game Two: Cabrini 22, Immaculata 8
The Blue and White got back in the win column in game two after flipping the script and pushing across 22 runs on 18 hits.
Justin Henry stole the show in game two as the veteran became the first Cavalier in program history to hit for the cycle. He finished with five hits, four runs and six RBIs - all setting new career highs for the New Brunswick, NJ native. He capped his career day with a second home run in the bottom of the eighth to hand the Cavs' their 22nd run.
Priest and junior
Garrett Laraia combined for five hits, six runs and six RBIs, while McKisson added three hits, three runs and two RBIs.
Domenic Marotta collected the win, his second of the season, after throwing 5.1 innings of relief. The freshman scattered eight hits and allowed four earned, while striking out three. Classmate
John Roberts collected the rare three inning save, the first of his career, after allowing two runs in 3.1 innings.
Cabrini also handed Immaculata starter
Ray Lutick his first loss of the season after chasing the righty after just 3.1 innings.
The Macs jumped out to a 4-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth, but a seven run bottom half of the inning from the Cavs made it an 8-4 game. Henry started things off with a solo shot to center, while McKisson delivered the inning's big blow with a two RBI double to right.
The Blue and White doubled down in the bottom of the fifth with another seven run frame to balloon their lead to 15-4. Five different Cavs tallied an RBI in the inning with Priet highlighting the bucnch with a two RBI double to left center.
Cabrini added five more runs in the seventh and two in the eighth for the eventual 22-8 final.
As mentioned, the Cavs capped their regular season following today's double dip. They will now turn their attention towards the Atlantic East Conference Tournament where they'll enter as the league's No. 3 seed, behind No. 2 seeded Immaculata and No. 1 seeded Marymount. Their first matchup in the AEC Tournament has yet to be announced.
