Men's Soccer Tops William Paterson for Dallas' 100th Win

RADNOR, PA - Senior Tyler Jankowski scored his first two collegiate goals today, as the Cavaliers tallied a 2-1 victory over William Paterson at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The victory improved the Blue and White to 4-0 on the season, the program's best start since winning their first four games n 2008.

The win also etched head coach Rob Dallas' name in the program's annuls, as he became just the second coach in program history to record 100 career wins. Dallas joins Duncan Hubley (HOF '11), who led Cabrini to 139 wins from 1987-98, as the program's only coaches to reach the century mark.

Jankowski put the Cavaliers ahead early, converting a penalty kick just four minutes into the action. Despite outshooting the visitors 8-1 and recording five corner kicks before the halftime break, Cabrini could not extend its lead.

Both teams turned up the pace in the second half, the Pioneers trying to pull even and the Cavaliers looking to pull ahead. Once again, it was Jankowski who made the big play. The senior connected on a left-footed blast from 25 yard out, beating William Paterson's junior goaltender Thomas Hatch inside the far left post.

The Pioneers got on the board in the 80th minute, when freshman Diego Navas Trujillo found senior Jacob Von Gibel. The visitors continued to press for a game-tying marker, but the Cabrini defense fought off a pair of late corner kicks to seal the victory.

Sophomore goaltender Griff Rogers was needed for just one save to earn hs second win of the season.

The Blue and White earned a slight 11-8 advantage in shots, with Jankowski leading the club with three, one more than junior Matt Duddy. Cabrini also forced 10 corner kicks, five in each stanza, to just six for the visitors.

Now in his 10th season as the Blue and White head coach, Dallas spent six seasons as an assistant to Glen Jaskelewicz ('93, HOF '06) before taking the reigns. Under his leadership, the Cavaliers have appeared in six conference championship games, raising three crowns, and topped No. 17 Rowan 1-0 in overtime for the program's first NCAA Tournament victory in 2017.

Dallas and the Cavaliers have little time to enjoy today's win, as Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets (2-0) will invade on Saturday afternoon. The battle of unbeatens is set to kickoff at 4pm.
