Women's Soccer Outlasts Arcadia in Home Opener

RADNOR, PA - The Cabrini University women's soccer team outlasted Arcadia University by way of a 2-1 final to secure their first victory of the year.
An early goal from senior Kait Cloud highlighted the open stanza, while a 65th minute goal from junior Rylie Butler proved to be the game winner.

On a night where every Cavalier saw action, Butler paced the offense with three shots. Cloud tallied two, while graduate student Brianna Blair and sophomore Ella Marrollo rounded out the Cavs shots with one apiece.

In total, the Blue and White held were outshot 8-7 in shots, but held a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal, while the defense limited the Knights to one corner on the night. Junior Ashley Tutzauer continued her strong play in frame as she allowed just one goal in the 74th minute.
In the eighth minute of play Butler gained possession of the ball off an Arcadia goal kick and fired a hard shot on frame from the right side of the 18 yard box. Knights' keeper Julia Mendez made the save but failed to control the ball, allowing Cloud to gather the rebound in front and tap it in for her first of the year.

The 1-0 Cabrini lead would hold through the intermission until a Cavs corner kick lead to an ensuing scramble inside the box, Butler found the loose ball and buried a shot into the bottom left corner of the net to give the home team a 2-0 advantage.
With only 15 minutes left in regulation, Kira Bouchard put the visitors on the board and cut the lead to one as she delivered a tough shot to top left corner, 2-1.
The Blue and White defense stymied an aggressive Arcadia attack the rest of the way to hold on for the 2-1 final.

Following tonight's action the Cavaliers improve to 1-2-1 on the season and are undefeated at Edith Robb Dixon Field. They'll look to pick up their first road victory on Saturday, September 18th when they host the Rosemont College Ravens. Game time is slated for 3pm.
