ASTON, Pa. – The Cabrini University men's soccer team finished in a 2-2 draw with the Neumann University Knights Tuesday night at the Neumann University Turf Field, but the Cavaliers fell 6-5 in six rounds of a penalty kick shootout.
The Cavaliers (8-7-4) fell behind the eight-ball early Tuesday night as the Knights (7-7-2) took a 1-nil lead at the 4' mark. The Cavs did not trail for long as a
Tyler Tomlin header found the back of the Knights net off a corner kick assist from
Nick Booth to knot the match at one apiece. Both teams failed to score before the break.
After the intermission, Neumann's Jake Kuzmick netted his second of the match to give the Knights a one-score lead again. Then in the 79', senior
Matt Duddy gave his best
Tyler Tomlin impression and headed a
Tyler Jankowski free kick between the posts to tie the match at 2-2. After several opportunities for both teams went awry, the AEC semifinal match went to overtime.
The extra 20 minutes of overtime were not enough to decide a winner and the match went to a penalty kick shootout. The Cavaliers matched the Knights on each make and each miss and forced an extra sixth round, but could not convert the final PK, ending their 2022 season.
