ARLINGTON, VA - The Cabrini University men's tennis team bid for their third Atlantic East Conference Championship in four years fell short today, as the team closed out their 2021-2 season on Wednesday afternoon after falling to the Marymount University Saints by a 5-0 final.Â
The No. 1 seed headed into the AEC tournament with a perfect 5-0 conference record, proved a worthy foe for the Blue and White as the Saints showed their prowess throughout the match.Â
Senior
Max Schneider and junior
Tien Tran fell by an 8-0 score in the No. 1 doubles flight, while freshmen
Trung Tran and
Khoi Nguyen matched their teammates score in the No. 3 slot.
Seniors
Ryan Calderaro and
Jonathan Papp took an 8-2 loss in No. 2 doubles.Â
Schneider took a game in singles play buy couldn't hold off his Saints counterpart, falling by a 6-0, 6-1 score in the No. 1 flight. Calderaro and Papp each dropped a pair of 6-0, 6-0 sets as Marymount swept Cabrini, 5-0.
Following todays match, the Cavs cap their season with a 2-9 overall record, 2-4 versus AEC opponents.
