Women's Lacrosse Falls to #10 Ithaca in NCAA Tourney 2nd Round

ITHACA, NY – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team looked to make program history today, but the Cavaliers could not overcome No. 10 Ithaca, as the Blue and White fell to the Bombers 19-9 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

With today's production, Little closes the season with 116 points and Carlson 108, the second and fourth most points in a season in program history, respectively.

Graduate student Ashley Tutzauer added a pair of goals, while senior Shea Neary, sophomore Caroline Gallagher and freshman Morgan McClintock added goals for Cabrini.

Neary matched junior Jess Ruk with five ground balls and secured a pair of draws, while Gallagher caused a pair of turnovers.

Ithaca extended its lead to 6-1 early in the second, but Carlson notched her second marker of the game, a women-up tally just two minutes later. Following another Ithaca goal, the game was delayed for an hour due to inclement weather.

While the Cavaliers looked to climb back into the game in the third, Ithaca essentially put the game out of reach with four goals in the opening three minutes of the stanza.

Trailing 15-4 after 45 minutes, the Blue and White opened the fourth with a flurry, as Gallagher, Tutzauer, Carlson and McClintock recorded unanswered goals, but the deficit proved to be too much to overcome.
