Women's Lacrosse Tops Immaculata 25-9, Returns to AEC Final

RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team secured its place in Saturday's Atlantic East Conference championship game with today's 25-9 win over Immaculata University.

The Cavaliers will host the Marymount University Saints in Saturday's final in a rematch of the 2021 title tilt.

Eleven Cavaliers marked the scoring column in today's win, with senior Dana Carlson tallying eight goals to become the sixth player in program history to record 200 career goals.

Fellow senior Olivia Little and graduate student Ashley Tutzauer added four goals and two assists each. Sophomore Marissa Mullan added a career best fiver points, pairing three goals and two helpers in the win.

The Blue and White's offensive dominance was sparked inside the draw circle, where the Cavaliers won 23 of the game's 36 draws, including 18 of 22 in the first half. Little led the way with 11, two more than classmate Shea Neary.

The Cavaliers' defense never allowed the Mighty Macs to find a comfortable rhythm, holding the visitors to just 11 shots through three quarters and pressuring Immaculata into just 7-14 in clearing attempts.

Cabrini got off to a fast start, as Carlson netted a pair of goals in the opening two minutes. Immaculata's Tessa Liberatoscioli converted a free position shot at the 9:05 mark, but the marker only slowed the Blue and White attack.

Carlson added three more goals and Little notched her first two before Liberatoscioli converted her second free position shot to pull the Mighty Macs to within 7-2 later in the opening period. Neary, Little and Tutzauer added to the Cavaliers' lead with goals in the final 47 seconds of the period, securing a 10-2 lead after 15 minutes.

The Blue and White continued its efficient offense in the second quarter, scoring nine goals on 14 shots. Carlson tallied a hat trick in the period, including her 200th career goal. Little's marker closed the quarter's scoring with 1:07 left, extending Cabrini's lead to 19-2 at the half.

A picture of offensive efficiency, the Cavaliers netted their 25 goals on just 39 shots, with Carlson's 12 leading the way.

All three Cabrini goaltenders saw action in the cage, totaling nine saves, including five by senior Sam Hamalak.

Liberatoscioli led the Mighty Macs with five goals and seven draw controls, while Ashley Finkbinker recorded 10 saves in the loss.

Marymount, the tournament's number two seed, advanced to the title game with today's 14-9 win over Neumann. The Saints outscored the Knights 7-1 in the fourth quarter to break open a tight contest.

Taylor Young and Kaleigh Dunham paced the Saints with four goals apiece, while Sarah Agrillo paired two goals and three assists. Caitlyn Dunn led the team with six ground balls and four caused turnovers, with goaltender Mariel Russ recording eight saves to pick up the win.

Saturday's championship will mark the second meeting this season between the Cavaliers and Saints. Cabrini cruised to an 18-8 victory on April 6. The Blue and White netted the game's first seven goals and never looked back.

Little stuffed the stat sheet to the tune of eight goals on a career best 19 shots, eight draw controls, seven ground balls and four caused turnovers. Neary added six points, including four markers, five ground balls, five draw controls and matched Little's four caused turnovers.

Hamalak came up big with eight saves, including several from point blank range to secure the victory.

Agrillo had her hand in seven of the Saints' eight scores, pairing three goals and four assists, while Russ tallied 15 saves.
