Swimming opened the 2023 – 2024 season on Saturday in a tri meet against AEC foes Marymount University and St. Mary's College held at Marymount University. The Cabrini men's team was defeated by Marymount 210 – 28 and St. Mary's College 175 – 56. The Cabrini women's team was defeated by Marymount 200 – 12 and St. Mary's College 198 – 23.
Michael Gray led the way for Cabrini, finishing second in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:02.71.
Jeffrey Travers competed in the same event and finished seventh at 1:06.72. Gray also competed in the 200-yard breaststroke and finished in third at 2:21.80.
In their lone medley race of the afternoon, the Cabrini men's team of Gray, Travers, Kenneth Lok, and Matthew Seifried finished fourth in the 200-yard medley at 1:45.29.
Seifried's best individual performance came in the 200-yard freestyle, where he finished third at 1:52.39. Joining Seifried in the 200-yard freestyle was Freshman Michael DeMattei who finished sixth with a time of 2:07.89. Lok's best individual performance came in the 100-yard breaststroke, where he finished fifth at 58.66.
On the women's side,
Belinda Hedden led the way for the Cavaliers finishing third in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:33.02.
Jennifer Allison's best performance came in the 500-yard freestyle where she finished fourth at 5:54.48.
Cabrini returns to action on Saturday, November 4th in a tri meet with Elizabethtown and Bryn Mawr hosted by Elizabethtown.
