Game Recap: Basketball (Men) |

Ravens' Rally Falls Short, Cabrini Tops Rosemont at Home

Radnor, PA - On Tuesday afternoon, Cabrini Men's Basketball hosted the Ravens of Rosemont College. With December victories over Clarks Summit and Haverford behind them, Rosemont entered the contest on a two-game winning streak. The Cavaliers also entered the day seeking their third win of the season after dropping their latest matchups to Penn State Berks and Misericordia.

Game Summary

The Cavaliers were first on the board with three pointers from Jayden Blakey, Donoven Mack, and Keenan Reiss. Cabrini jumped to an early 11-2 lead following a pair of free throws from Mack. They'd reclaim their early 9 point lead, 14-5, with a three point make from George Marion.

The Cabrini offense continued to click as George Marion assisted Isaac Brady on consecutive corner threes. Brady's second trey forced a Rosemont timeout with the Cavs ahead 30-19.

Rosemont proceeded to capitalize on forced turnovers and offensive rebounds, leading to an 11-0 run that knotted the score 30-30. Inside the final two minutes of the half, the teams traded baskets before entering the break with Cabrini ahead 33-32.

Five minutes into second half action, the Ravens used several fastbreak scores to create a 46-39 advantage. Cabrini was quick to respond, as the Cavalier's got a much needed stop and Aarick Salata went to the line to cut the opponents' lead to 5. On the ensuing Rosemont possession, Donoven Mack swiped the ball near midcourt, went downhill, and finished the play with a layup and a shooting foul. Mack converted the and-one to bring the score to 46-44. The Cavaliers ultimately overcame the brief deficit with an Isaac Brady three pointer.

Rosemont was forced to hold back on their defensive intensity, as they reached the foul limit before the midway point of the second half. The Cavaliers had drawn fouls on four consecutive possessions, affording Cabrini free throws that extended their second half lead to 7.

Rosemont gained momentum back later in the second period, as the Ravens used their size inside to beat the Cavaliers above the rim. Consecutive dunks from Tyler Howard brought the game within a single possession with nine minutes remaining, before he'd make a layup from the right block that put Rosemont up 59-58.

Cabrini retook control as Donoven Mack walked away with 2 points on each of the Cavs' next three possessions. With 5 minutes on the clock, George Marion drove through the paint for a tough layup that gave Cabrini a 65-60 advantage.

Closing minute miscues and clock management let Rosemont back into contention. The Ravens' found late layups, trailing just 76-74 with 1.8 seconds remaining. Keenan Reiss received the inbound and was sent to the free throw line with 0:01 on the clock. Reiss made the pair to ice the game and give the Cavaliers a four-point margin of victory.
