ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – After the first day of the 2023 Atlantic East Conference Men's Swimming Championships, Cabrini sits in third place out of six teams with a total score of 173 points.
Marymount is in first with 205 points, with St. Mary's in second at 195. Gallaudet is in fourth at 106 points with Immaculata in fifth at 74.
Tommy Ronayne picked up two golds on the night, as he won the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.65. His seed time in the prelims earlier in the day set a new conference and meet record at 1:55.18. His finish in the evening was more than three seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Kenny Lok was sixth in the event at 2:04.62.
Ronayne was part of the 200 free relay team that captured the event with a meet and conference record time of 1:26.85, just .01 faster than the record time set last year by Cabrini. The team of Ronayne, Colin Taggart, Michael Gray and Mac Granto set the new record.
Ronayne, Gray, Granto and Matt Seifried finished second in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:33.16, bettering the conference and meet record by two seconds.
Four Cavs placed in the 50 free, as Gray was second at 21.86, Taggart was fourth at 21.95, Granto sixth at 22.10 and Jeffrey Travers 12th at 23.50. All four bettered their preliminary times from earlier in the day.
Seifried was third in the 500 free at 4:48.91.
