MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The Cabrini University baseball team fell to Saint Joseph's Long Island 10-6 Thursday night in the Cavaliers only game of the day.
Thursday's contest remained scoreless through the first three innings until
Dustin Sutton led off the top of the fourth with a homer to put the Cavs ahead 1-0. In the bottom half, the Golden Eagles put up two runs with a solo homer of their own and an RBI-double to go ahead 2-1 after four.
The Cavaliers (4-4) used four runs over the course of the sixth and seventh, highlighted by a
Colton Narciso three-run homer, to take a 6-3 lead headed to the bottom half. In the home half of the seventh, three walks, four wild pitches, and a two-run single from Cavs pitching led to a five-run inning for Saint Joseph's as the Golden Eagles took an 8-6 lead through seven innings. In the eighth, the Golden Eagles tacked on two more and in the bottom half of the ninth, the Cavs went down 1-2-3 as Saint Joseph's spoiled Cabrini's first winning streak of the young season.
Blake Weinstein got the start for the Cavs as the freshman went six innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits and struck out four.
Garrett Laraia went 2-for-5 at the plate while Narciso went 1-for-3 with three RBIs.
The Cavaliers continue their Spring Training trip on Friday, March 3 with a doubleheader against Keystone College. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
