WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – On Thursday, the Cabrini University softball team split a pair of games to move its record to 6-2.
In the opener, Cabrini lost to Calvin by a 9-3 score, before defeating Dubuque 8-7 in eight innings in game two.

Cabrini took a 3-0 lead after four innings as Avery Byrnes had a RBI fielders choice, followed by Kaitlyn Delaney netting a two-run single scoring Byrnes and Sydney Andrews.
Calvin then added five runs in the fifth and three runs in the sixth. Ariana Mirenda had two hits in the game.
Byrnes took the loss, going 4.1 innings with six strikeouts.
Cabrini 8, Dubuque 7 (8 innings)
Leading 2-1 after two innings, Cabrini took a 7-1 lead after three as Miranda, Sam Taddei and Abby Tobelmann had RBI hits. Taddei had a two RBI on an error, while Miranda had two separate RBI hits in the inning.
Dubuque stormed back with six runs in the sixth to tie the score at 7-all. Byrnes had the game-winning single in the eighth that scored Mirenda.
Mirenda went 3-for-4 in the nightcap with two runs scored and two RBI. Andrews had two hits, as did Byrnes and Madison Gugel.
Byrnes got the win, allowing just one hit in 1.2 innings of work.
Cabrini closes the trip on Friday with games against Wartburg and Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.
