Radnor, PA - On Tuesday night, Cabrini Women's Soccer hosted the Lancaster Bible College Chargers. LBC entered the night with a 6-1 record, good for first in the United East Conference - Volt Division.
The Chargers scored the game's opening goal five minutes in. An LBC forward won possession in their attacking third, and split the defense with a pass through Cabrini's back line. The Chargers converted their eventual shot from inside the box.
Cabrini worked to even the score, creating several scoring opportunities. At the 20 minute mark,
Gia Rebilas recovered the ball 30 yards from goal and played a pass over LBC's defense, but it was just out of reach of the closest Cavalier. Shortly thereafter, Cabrini connected passes up the left sideline, but failed to find feet near LBC's goal.
Inside 2 minutes, Cabrini put together two tremendous chances. First,
Rebekah Cunningham played a free kick nicely toward the penalty marker, but it was headed away. Then, with time expiring in the half,
Jenna DeTetta gathered possession and tapped to
Erin Ewing. Ewing took a left footed shot from the penalty arc, but her strong strike rolled off the fingertips of LBC's goalkeeper and hit the crossbar.
Despite several looks, the Cavaliers entered the half trailing 1-0.
Coming out of the half,
Amanda Elwell placed two shots on goal, but both were saved by LBC's keeper.
LBC went up 2-0 in the 58th minute, when the Chargers carried possession through the attacking half before their eventual goal. With ten minutes remaining, LBC converted on a penalty kick to add the game's third goal.
Despite two late shots from Daleyney Herrera-Migucha, the Cavaliers were unable to score before the match's end.
With the 3-0 victory, Lancaster Bible has outscored their opponents 23-2 through their first eight games.
Cabrini plays again this week, as they will travel to face Bryn Athyn on Thursday night.
