Center Valley, PA - On Wednesday afternoon, Cabrini traveled to face DeSales University in a battle of 2-0 teams. DeSales entered the game with a 1-0 win against Gwynedd Mercy and a 15-1 trouncing of PSU Schuylkill under their belt.
DeSales scored the game's first goal in the 41st minute. After a high arcing corner kick was headed forward from the penalty kick marker, a Bulldog inside the six would flip the ball from the ground to the upper left corner of the goal.
In the 59th minute, DeSales would score their second off a well placed header. Center back Dominic Petruzzelli reacted well to the shot, nearly making a spectacular clear, but his lunging effort was unable to keep the ball from reaching the Cavalier's net.
Six minutes later, Cabrini would score one of their own. A pass from forward Matt Duddy would reach outside back John Ameyaw, who netted the Cavs first goal of the contest. A late game penalty kick and an open goal breakaway gave the Bulldogs two more scores, awarding the Bulldogs a 4-1 victory over Cabrini.
After the season's first loss, the team is focused on their upcoming slate of games. Coach Rob Dallas adds "We are obviously disappointed by today's result. We had some great moments and needed to be more clinical in those. We are going to focus on learning from today and moving on as we head to a tough weekend ahead with Salisbury and Saint Mary's."
Cabrini will take part in the Seahawk classic this weekend, matching up with Salisbury University on Saturday, 9/9 and St. Mary's College of Maryland on Sunday, 9/10.
