Women’s Lacrosse drops final conference tune-up to TCNJ

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini University women's lacrosse team fell to The College of New Jersey at Edith Robb Dixon Field on Tuesday afternoon. TCNJ took the contest by a score of 19-8 on the backs of a 6-0 first quarter and a 5-0 fourth quarter. The Cavaliers swiftly begin  Atlantic East Conference play tomorrow at home against Gwynedd Mercy.  

Scoring
-Morgan McClintock, Whitney Hershey, and Caroline Gallagher each delivered a pair of goals, while Olivia Pace and Alena Catka both had one. 
-Cassidy Starner, Olivia Little, and Olivia Pace registered one assist apiece.

Defensive
-Caroline Gallagher had 2 caused turnovers, 5 ground balls, and 5 draw controls. 
-Olivia Little had a caused turnover, 2 ground balls, and 2 draw controls.
-Neve Murphy and Shea Neary gave the Cavaliers 2 ground balls apiece.
-Alena Catka had 4 draw controls and a ground ball.
-Abbey Fenton made 6 saves and collected 3 ground balls.

How it Happened
  • TCNJ carved out an early lead behind 6 first quarter goals. 
  • The Cavaliers tested the Lions' goalkeeper in the first frame with 6 shots on goal, but each attempt was turned away.
  • Cabrini got on the board early in the second period before netting their second and third goals two minutes later, as the Cavs trailed 7-3.
  • TCNJ strung together three goals and scored another just before halftime, where they led 10-4.
  • Rowan strung together four consecutive scores, tightening the game at 7-5 just after halftime.
  • The third quarter flashed zeroes for 8 minutes before Cabrini netted the first goal of the second half.
  • Cavaliers outscored the Lions in the third quarter, but trailed the visitors 14-8.
  • TCNJ netted goals 15 through 19 in the final period, taking the game by an 11 goal margin.

Cabrini women's lacrosse is back in action tomorrow to begin their Atlantic East Conference slate. The Cavaliers will face Gwynedd Mercy University at ERDF on Wednesday, April 3rd at 4pm.
