How it Happened
- Cabrini wasted little time getting on the board, as Colton Narciso hit a three run belt to left field, scoring Zack Brook and Ryan Dipper ahead of him.
- Immaculata got two runs back in the bottom half of the inning off consecutive singles.
- Hunter Kraiza retired the Mighty Macs in order in the second inning, but faced trouble in the third. Immaculata loaded the bases before a pair of singles gave the Macs a 4-3 lead, a sac fly extended the lead, and a bunt single put the Macs ahead 6-3.
- Zack Brook led off the top of the fourth with a double before Colton Narciso walked to put two men on. Christian Strickland then cleared the bases with a three run homerun to left, as the Cavs evened the score 6-6.
- Immaculata brought a single run across in the sixth and seventh inning, reclaiming the lead and stretching it to 8-6.
- Cabrini threatened to score in the seventh, as Garrett Laraia, Ryan Dipper, and Zack Brook loaded the bases, but the Cavaliers were unable to bring a run across before the third out.
- Despite six strong innings from Josh Colon in relief, Cabrini could not regain an advantage to force a second game for the Atlantic East Conference Championship.
After eliminating Gwynedd Mercy University and top-seeded host Marymount University, the Cavaliers dropped their eventual meeting 6-8, finishing second to Immaculata University. The Mighty Macs will represent the Atlantic East in the 2024 NCAA Tournament next week.
