Jimmy Yezzo is in his first year as a Cabrini assistant baseball coach in 2016-17.
Yezzo was a slugging first baseman for the University of Delaware before being drafted by the Washington Nationals in the seventh round of the Major League Baseball Draft. Â
Yezzo was named a First Team All-American by Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball in 2013 and was a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award for the nation’s top amateur player.
Yezzo led the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) with a .410 batting average and 28 doubles and ranked second in the league with 13 home runs and 64 runs batted in.
Yezzo has spent the last five seasons splitting time between the Washington National organization and independent baseball. In 2013, Yezzo clubbed 13 home runs for the Hagerstown Suns, the National’s Single A affiliate in the South Atlantic League and posted 12 homers and 42 RBI for the Washington WildThings of the Frontier League in 2016.
In the off-seasons he serves as an instructor at Maplezone Sports Institute.
