David Ringwood was named cross country head coach in July 2020.
Ringwood joins the Cavaliers after five years as an assistant coach at Div. I Loyola University. After two years as a volunteer assistant coach, Ringwood was named a full-time assistant coach for the Loyola cross country and track teams.
The lead recruiter for the Greyhounds’ men’s cross country team, Ringwood helped increase the program’s incoming freshman class by more than 200% in his first three years with the program.
In addition to his work with the University’s intercollegiate team, he has also been head coach of the Loyola Running Club. In his two years at the helm, Ringwood has been responsible for scheduling meets and travel, budgets and practices for cross country, indoor and outdoor track.
No stranger to the Division III model, Ringwood competed in indoor and outdoor track at Johns Hopkins University, winning the University’s first Centennial indoor track championship in 2013.
The Moorestown (NJ) High School alum graduated from Johns Hopkins with a Bachelor of Arts in economics with a minor in entrepreneurship and management in May 2013 and earned his Master of Arts in communications with a concentration in digital media research from the school in May 2016.
Since receiving his bachelor’s degree, Ringwood has continued to train and compete and in 2016 finished second overall, and as the top American, at the Charleston Marathon. He also won the 10,000 meters at the 2015 USATF East Region Championships.
A USATF Level One coach, Ringwood has also worked as a Training Program Coach at the Formula Running Center, where he has helped clients develop customized training programs for 5K’s and half and full marathons, while educating them on proper technique and the development of racing and training strategies.
