Scott Gavin Wisniewski was named head coach of the women's rowing team in August 2019, becoming the second head coach in the program's history.

Gavin-Wisniewski brings more than 12 years of coaching experience in Division I, III and the club world to Cabrini.

Most recently, Gavin-Wisniewski led a resurgence of the men’s rowing team at Washington College. In his two seasons with the Shoremen, Gavin-Wisniewski helped the program go from a 10th place finish at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championships to a fourth-place team-finish in 2018 and a silver medal at the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta.

Prior to his two years in Chestertown, MD, Gavin-Wisniewski spent three seasons as the assistant lightweight men’s rowing coach at Penn, with previous stints at Villanova, Yale, and Vesper Boat Club.  

During his years with the Quakers, Gavin-Wisniewski created an Under-23 summer program that provided two Penn student-athletes with the opportunity to race in the 2016 World Championships and also scored a fourth-place finish at the 2016 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship Regatta.

Before moving on to Penn, Gavin-Wisniewski spent one year as the Head Coach of Villanova’s club-level men’s rowing team, coaching the Wildcats to their best-ever result at the Dad Vail Regatta in the Men’s Varsity 8+.

Gavin-Wisniewski also spent five years (2008-2013) at Vesper Boat Club in Philadelphia, working first as an assistant coach, before being named High Performance Racing Team’s program director. At Vesper, he performed executive functions such as overseeing the racing budget and recruited two women to the program who ultimately became a World Champion and competed in the 2016 Olympic Games.

No stranger to high-level training and performance, Gavin- Wisniewski coached the 2012 and 2013 Team National Champions with Vesper Boat Club, and has led teams at the World Cup, U23-World Championships, Olympic Trials and Pan American Games.

Gavin-Wisniewski completed his bachelor’s degree in History at the University of Pittsburgh in 2001.
