Hagan Tim 2122

Tim Hagan

Tim Hagan was named head coach of the Cabrini rowing program in August 2021. Hagan returned to lead the program after helping begin the program in 2017 and serving as an assistant coach for two years from 2017-2019.

No stranger to the Philadelphia-area rowing scene, Hagan brought 20 years of coaching experience to the Cabrini boat launch.

Prior to Cabrini, Hagan served as head coach at Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, a program that he helped launch in 2018. The program now boasts nearly 50 rowers and scored victories in the Lightweight 8 at the Philadelphia Scholastic Rowing Association City Championship and Stotesbury Cup Regatta, the largest high school regatta in the world.

Hagan also spent five years as the head coach of the Haddonfield Memorial High School Crew Club. From 2012-17, Hagan led a program that included more than 65 boys and girls, while also organizing the junior rowing program, which included 45 middle schoolers.

Hagan’s coaching career began at his alma mater, Temple University, where after two years as a strength and conditioning coach, he moved into the women’s rowing program. Hagan led the freshmen/novice program from 2000-03, during which he led the Novice 8 to a second place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship and a win at the Murphy Cup.

After one year as an assistant coach for the varsity program, he was elevated to head coach in 2004. During his seven years leading the Owls the program earned its best ever finish in the Atlantic 10 Championship, finishing third in 2010 and winning the 2006 Kelly Cup as city champions.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Hagan was also the Regatta Director of the Murphy Cup. Hosted by Temple University, the regatta is the second largest collegiate regatta on the Schuylkill River, boasting more than 40 colleges and university entrants.

Hagan was a four-year rower at Temple before completing his B.S. in Exercise Science in 1998. He also completed his master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Psychology at Temple in 2000.

As a senior, Hagan was a member of the Owls' 1998 Dad Vail Regatta second varsity eight championship crew. That year he also helped lead the second varsity eight to wins at the Murphy Cup, Bergen Cup and Braxton Regatta. He capped his Temple rowing career by being named the recipient of the team's Outstanding Senior Award.
