Chris Protesto joined the Cabrini softball program as an assistant coach in 2019 and was elevated to head coach following the 2019 campaign.
Protesto and the Cabrini softball team made history in 2022. The Cavaliers scored a pair of road wins to upset the number one seed Marywood to win the 2022 Atlantic East Conference championship. Â
The 3-0 and 5-1 victories marked the first conference title for the Blue and White since 2004 and just the sixth in program history.
In his first year at the helm of the program, Protesto and the Cavaliers posted a 20-18 mark, claiming five of their 10 conference tilts, before making an appearance in the Atlantic East Conference tournament.
Protesto brought a wealth of club coaching experience to the Blue and White dugout.
Protesto began coaching at the youth level in 2012, winning his club to its first ever district title. Three years later, the team repeated the feat before finishing third in the state.
In 2015, Protesto led the Lionville Lightning to Class C level state championship. Two years later, his PA Strikers finished second in the Eastern Nationals in a field of 75 teams.
Protesto moved to the college ranks in 2019, helping the Cavaliers build a 20-18 mark, including 5-5 in Atlantic East Conference action and a berth in the conference tournament.
Protesto is also the Structural Trades Supervisor in the Cabrini University Facilities Department, where has worked since 2003.
