Ken Prothero begins his eighth season as the head women’s soccer coach at Cabrini in 2009.
In 2008, Prothero mentored the Cavaliers to a 10-8-2 overall record and the semifinal round of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Tournament. Senior back Nikki Duggan was named the CSAC Co-Player of the Year, the first under Prothero’s watch.
In just his second season at Cabrini in 2003, Prothero guided the Blue & White to the CSAC title and to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
As the conference tournament’s No. 4 seed, the Cavaliers knocked off rival Gwynedd-Mercy College 3-2 in penalty kicks after regulation and two overtimes could not solve a 1-1 deadlock. Cabrini out-scored its opponents 8-1 in three playoff games en route to the crown.
In 2006, the Cavaliers tallied an 11-6-3 overall record and 8-1-1 mark with Prothero at the helm. He begins the 2009 campaign with a 54-68-13 career record.
Prior to taking the reins as head coach at Cabrini, Prothero served two seasons (2000-01) as an assistant with the Cavaliers under Dianne Pierangeli. He also spent two seasons (1998-99) as an assistant with men’s soccer team at Arcadia University.
Prothero has earned Goalkeeper Level I & II, State and National Coaching Diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He has coached at the youth and high school levels in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Prothero played four seasons at Bucknell University. He graduated from Bucknell in 1996 with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education and a minor in computer science.
Prothero and his wife Wendy live in Berwyn, Pa.
