Senior men’s basketball student-athlete Cory Lemons had been selected as this week’s CabriniAthletics.com Student-Athlete of the Week.  Lemons led the Cavaliers to wins in the opening two rounds of the 2012 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament.

In Friday’s opening round 104-87 win over Castleton State College, the senior scored 17 points and handed out a game-high 6 assists.  Six of those points came in a decisive 22-6 first half run to extend Cabrini’s lead.

In his final game at Nerney Field House, Lemons put on a 25-point, seven rebound, two steal performance.  Saturday's 90-88 overtime win over Hobart College sent the Blue and White to the third Sweet 16 in school history.  Lemons played all 40 minutes and sealed the game with a steal in the game’s final seconds.

The senior has led the Cavaliers all season.  Lemons leads the team with 17.9 points and ranks second with 6.3 rebounds.  His 6.8 assist per game rank 6th in the nation. 

Lemons and the #5 Cavaliers will face Eastern Connecticut State University on Friday at 5:30 p.m.  The winner will advance to Saturday’s Elite Eight game against the winner of University of Scranton and host Middlebury College.
