Eric Schaefer

Eric Schaefer begins his fourth season with the Cabrini volleyball team in 2010. Schaefer led the Cavaliers to their first Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 2009.

Schaefer earned CSAC Coach of the Year honors last season, guiding the Blue & White to a perfect 13-0 record against conference opponents en route to the crown.

In three years with the Cavaliers, Schaefer has notched a 65-29 overall record and 28-4 mark against teams from the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).

Schaefer mentored Stephanie Recklau to CSAC Player of the Year honors last season. Recklau was named the conference's rookie of the year in 2007. Alexis Doss earned the CSAC's top rookie distinction in 2008.

Additionally, Schaefer is in his 12th season as the boys' varsity coach at Haverford High School, his alma mater. In 2008, the Fords finished second in District I of the PIAA and advanced the state tournament.

Schaefer was thrice named the Coach of the Year for the Independent Boys’ Volleyball League in 2004, 2007 and 2008.

Schaefer also served as the girls' varsity coach at Haverford for six seasons, representing the Central League at the PIAA District I Tournament each year. In 2005, his Haverford girls' team was awarded the Central League Sportsmanship Award.     

Schaefer is in his fifth season with the Valley Forge Volleyball Club, leading the 15-and-under team to a regional championship in 2007.

Prior to his tenure at Haverford, Schaefer spent two years as the girls’ varsity coach at Radnor High School. He also spent two seasons working with both the girls' varsity and junior varsity teams at The Shipley School.    

Schaefer earned a bachelor’s degree in education from East Stroudsburg University in 1996 and received his master’s degree in education from Wilkes University in 2005. He teaches health and physical education at Haverford High School.

Schaefer and his wife Pam, with their daughter, Kayleigh, and son, Tristan, reside in Havertown, Pa.
