RADNOR, Pa. (October 1) – The Eastern University volleyball team used double-digit kills from two players to defeat Cabrini College 3-0 (30-22, 30-20, 30-23) this evening. The Eagles improve to 10-9 and remain undefeated in the PAC while the Cavaliers drop to 10-7, 2-2 in the conference.
Eastern tallied 9.0 team blocks and posted an attack average of .225.
In game one, the Cavaliers tied the score at five after consecutive Eagle attack errors before Eastern scored 10 of the next 13 points to take a 15-8 lead. Cabrini closed the gap to five on six occasions but after a Recklau kill to set the score at 26-21, the Eagles claimed the eight point win.
After a 9-9 tie in game two, Eastern used a 7-2 scoring run to take a five point lead before Cabrini cut the deficit to one (16-15) with two Eagle mistakes and pair of service aces from sophomore
Traci Beltz. Eastern took its largest lead of the game (25-16) off back-to-back service aces and Cabrini ended the game with attack errors on three of the final four points.
The Eagles held a slight advantage throughout a majority of the third game and the Cavaliers would get no closer than three points in the loss.
Cabrini faces Cedar Crest College on Thursday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
