RADNOR, Pa. (September 18) - Twenty minutes into the contest, junior Collette Walsh scored for the Cavaliers but it wasn't enough as Cabrini fell 2-1 to Gwynedd-Mercy this evening. The Cavaliers drop to 3-4, 1-1 in the PAC while the Griffins win their first game of the season and improve to 1-4-1, 1-1 in the conference.
Cabrini attempted 14 shots to Gwynedd-Mercy's six but was unable to put any more points on the scoreboard.
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead with at the 12:43 mark when Jenn Welte stole the ball from the Cabrini defender and was able to fire the ball into the net.
Less than 10 minutes later, junior Brittany Shields dribbled the ball down field and sophomore Sabina DeGisi was able to bring the Griffin goalkeeper out of the net, passing the ball to Walsh on the right side, who then evened the score, putting the ball into the top left corner of the net.
With less then five minutes remaining, Danielle McLaughlin collected a pass from Mackenzie Armstrong and the ball went over the outstretched hands of freshman Cheyenne White.
White made one save in 90 minutes of action.
The Cavaliers host Franklin & Marshall in a non-conference battle on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
