Stephanie Recklau registered a team-high 11 kills to lead the Cabrini College volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-18, 30-25, 30-17) win over Gwynedd-Mercy this evening. The Cavaliers improve to 9-6, 2-1 in the PAC and the Griffins drop their eighth consecutive match and fall to 3-11, 2-2 in the league.
The Cavaliers registered a .316 attack percentage in the third game with 13 kills off 38 attacks and just one error.
In the first game, Cabrini fell behind 6-9 before scoring three unanswered points and knotting the score off a bad set from the Griffins. The Cavaliers took a double-digit lead (23-13) after a Gwynedd-Mercy attack error before taking their largest lead of the game (13) with a kill from Recklau, her final of three straight.
Gwynedd-Mercy fell behind early in the second game but twice got within four points before the Cavaliers rattled off three consecutive points to take a 28-21 lead. Cabrini earned the five-point victory with a Griffin attack error.
Following five tie scores in the third game, the Cavaliers used an 11-4 run to take a 17-10 lead. Cabrini twice built 10-point advantages before Martin served four straight points and a kill from sophomore
Traci Beltz gave the Cavaliers the conference win.
Cabrini hosts Arcadia University on Friday, Sept. 28 at 5 p.m.
