RADNOR, Pa. (September 27) – Freshman
Desiree Umosella scored two goals as the Cabrini College field hockey team recorded its first win of the season with a 5-0 victory over Marywood University this afternoon. The Cavaliers improve to 1-8, 1-3 in the PAC while the Pacers drop to 2-6, 1-4 in the league.
Just three minutes into the contest, Cabrini got on the scoreboard when sophomore
Bridget Bergen tapped the ball into the cage. Twenty seconds later, Umosella scored her first goal of the day to give Cabrini a two-goal edge.
At the 13:02 mark, the Cavaliers put another goal up when junior
Melissa Benedetti connected with freshman
Allie Wood. Umosella added her second score with 15 minutes left in the half and Bendedetti set the final margin with a penalty stroke.
The Cavaliers held a 10-2 edge in shots and recorded nine penalty corners to the Pacers’ two.

Caitlin Donahue played the first half in the goal for Cabrini and made one save before junior
Elissa Salantri spent the final 35 minutes in the goal and stopped one shot. For Marywood, junior Stephanie Ziemski made three saves.
The Cavaliers host Arcadia University on Saturday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m.
