RADNOR, Pa. (September 29) – The Cabrini College field hockey team used three first half goals, including two from sophomore
Bridget Bergen, to defeat Arcadia University 4-3 this afternoon. The Cavaliers win their second consecutive game and improve to 2-8 while the Knights drop to 3-7.
The Cavaliers took a 1-0 lead at the 16:28 mark when junior
Melissa Benedetti scored off penalty corner with an assist from freshman
Ashley Walton. Ten minutes later, Bergen connected on her first of three goals for the day off a corner.
Bergen gave Cabrini a 3-0 halftime lead with just over two minutes left in the period with her unassisted score on a scramble in front of the cage.
Arcadia responded with two consecutive scores in a five minute span, both by junior Kristin Conrad, to get within one.
With just over twenty minutes remaining in the game, Bergen extended the Cavaliers lead to two before Aracadia’s Beth Harris scored off a corner at the 60:36 point for the final tally of the contest.
Freshman
Caitlin Donahue played all 70 minutes in the cage for Cabrini, making two saves. For Arcadia, sophomore Rachel Palis recorded four saves.
Both teams recorded eight shots but Cabrini held a 11-4 advantage in penalty corners.
The Cavaliers face Widener on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
