RADNOR, Pa. (September 5) – Junior
Lindsay Martin recorded a double-double with 10 kills and 14 digs to lead the Cabrini College volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-15, 30-23, 30-28) win over Ursinus College this evening. With its first win of the season, the Cavaliers improve to 1-1 while Ursinus drops to 1-2.
The Cavaliers jumped to a 7-1 lead in the first game, behind five consecutive serves from Williams, before taking a double-digit lead (12-2) off an ace from
Danielle Finnegan. The Cavaliers held their largest advantage at 17 (29-12) with another Finnegan ace before claiming the 30-15 win.
In the second game, Cabrini built a quick 5-1 lead before the Bruins pulled in front off consecutive service aces. Following an 18-18 tie, Cabrini regained an advantage that it would maintain for the duration of the contest and scored the game-winning point from an Ursinus attack error.
The Bruins took a 4-1 lead in the final set but the Cavaliers knotted the score at six and held a slight edge until an Ursinus kill evened things at 21. Cabrini used a Martin kill to end the contest with a 30-28 win.
Jill Alspach led the visitors with 10 kills and 10 digs.
The Cavaliers host Wesley College on Friday, September 7 at 7 p.m.
