Men's Hoops Dominates Marywood

RADNOR, Pa. (January 19) – Freshman Glenn Washington led all scorers with 23 points as the Cabrini College men’s basketball team defeated Marywood University 85-38 this afternoon.  The Cavaliers improve to 6-9, 3-3 in the PAC while the Pacers drop 6-7 and remain winless in the conference with a 0-5 mark.
 
Washington added five assists, four rebounds and three steals.  Senior Randy Reid added 13 points and a team-best six rebounds.  Eleven players scored for the Cavaliers today.
 
"I am really most proud of our team's defensive intensity for 40 minutes tonight," head coach Greg Herenda said.  "That is how we wanted to approach this game - let our defense create our offense."
 
The Cavaliers finished 30-of-60 (50.0%) from the field and connected on 10 three-point field goals.
 
Cabrini dished out 22 assists and tallied 19 steals.
 
The Pacers turned the ball over 31 times and connected on just ten field goals. 
 
Marywood outrebounded Cabrini 45-42 and the Pacers pulled down 18 offensive boards.
 
Less than four minutes into the contest, the Cavaliers built an 11-point lead with a 12-1 scoring run.  Midway through the half, Cabrini’s Matt Walsh put the Cavaliers in front by 17 points with a three-point basket.
 
"I played 14 guys in the first half and there was no slippage. It was a total team effort."
 
The Cavaliers held a 39-21 break at the half, scoring 22 points off the Pacers’ turnovers.
 
In the second half, Cabrini held its largest lead of the contest (52) with 4:33 remaining in the contest.
 
Cabrini faces Gwynedd-Mercy College on Monday, January 21 at 7 p.m.
