RADNOR, PA (January 19) – The Cabrini College women’s basketball team continued their PAC winning streak today with a 64-47 win over Marywood University. With the win, the Cavaliers improve their record to 8-4, 3-0 PAC, while the Pacers fall to 9-4, 3-3 PAC.
Sophomore guard
Alyssa Brady led in scoring for the Cavaliers with 15 points and four assists. Junior
Kayleen Smith and sophomore
Kate Walck followed Brady as Smith had 14 points of her own and one assist, while Walck had 10 points. Point guard
Deana DiAmico led in assists for the Cavaliers with eight.
A set of three-pointers by both Brady and Walck in the first few minutes of the game helped to widen the Cavalier lead early. The Cavaliers did not allow the Pacers any offensive momentum in the first half, at one point forcing a three-minute scoring dry-spell on Marywood. Smith’s layups also aided to the 32-24 halftime lead over the Pacers
The Cavalier defense caused Marywood to commit 24 total turnovers in the contest, scoring off of 16 turnovers in the second half. The Cavalier bench contributed 13 points in the second half.
Marywood did manage to close the gap against Cabrini, at one point closing to within five points of the Cavalier’s lead. Lizzy Green and Stephanie Fusaro kept Marywood in the game, both leading in scoring for the Pacers with eight and seven points in the second, 16 and 10 overall.
The Cavaliers return to action on Monday, January 21st for a 6 p.m. tip-off against PAC opponent Rosemont College.
