SCRANTON, Pa. – The Cabrini men and women's swimming teams began the 2008-09 season Saturday at the University of Scranton. Both the Cavalier men and women topped Fairleigh Dickinson University, 58-24 and 75-20, respectively.
Junior Andrea Carabello and freshman MacKenzie Stewart led the women's charge. Carabello captured gold in the 50yd freestyle with a time of 26.51 seconds. Stewart finished first in the 100yd breaststroke with a time of 1:13.03.
Carabello placed second in the 100yd freestyle with a time of 59.15 seconds. Sophomore Kate Manning posted two second-place finishes in the 200yd freestyle (2:09.00) and 100yd backstroke (1:05.48).
Freshman Lauren Silva placed second in the 200yd individual medley with a time of 2:31.62.
In relay action, the Cabrini women's 'A' team finished second in the 200yd medley relay with a time of 1:58.70.
On the men's side, sophomore Kyle Teliszewski placed second in the 200yd freestyle with a time of 1:56.63. Sophomores Matt McGuriman (23.10) and Bill Boylan (1:07.84) finished second in the 50yd freestyle and 100yd breaststroke, respectively.
The Cavaliers men's 'A' team finished second in the 200yd medley relay with a time of 1:47.06.
The Cabrini women's swimming team returns to action Saturday, November 1 at Millersville University. The men's team is idle until Saturday, November 8 at home against King's College and the College of Notre Dame.
