ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Cabrini men and women's swimming teams collected a combined 17 gold medals Saturday in a dual-meet at Lebanon Valley College. The Cavalier women topped the Dutchwomen, 109-94. The Cabrini men suffered a 124-78 setback.
Junior Andrea Carabello, sophomore Kate Manning, freshman MacKenzie Stewart and freshman Lauren Sliva led the women's charge, each winning two gold medals, including as a team in the 200m medley relay. The Cavaliers posted a time of 2:14.57.
Carabello finished first in the 200m freestyle, clocking in at 2:22.88. Manning won gold in the 400m freestyle with a time of 5:09.14.
Stewart posted a first-place performance in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:20.68. Sliva finished ahead of the field in the 50m freestyle, recording a time of 29:59.
Junior Anne Konicki (11:18.67) and sophomore Emily Yurick (2:45.23) finished first in the 800m freestyle and 200m individual medley, respectively.
On the men's side, sophomore Matt McGuriman won three gold medals. He joined classmates Bill Boylan, Josh Pace and Matt Piontkowski in a first-place (2:02.73) performance in the 200m medley relay.
McGuriman also captured gold in the 50m freestyle (25:38) and 100m freestyle (57.45).
Boylan finished first in the 100m breaststroke, posting a time of 1:14.94.
The Cabrini men and women's swimming teams resume action Thursday, November 20 in day one of the three-day Crimson Invitational hosted by Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
