RADNOR, PA (February 2) – The Cabrini College women’s basketball team, coming off a tough loss from Thursday night against Gwynedd-Mercy, overtook visiting Immaculata University to claim a 69-41 win today at home. With the win, the Cavaliers improve their record to 13-5, 8-1 PAC, while the Mighty Macs drop to 4-14, 2-7 PAC.
Cabrini held Immaculata scoreless for the opening four minutes before a foul shot from Stephanie Stripe ended the Mighty Macs’ dry-spell. Cabrini immediately responded with a layup from Smith 12 seconds later and by the end of the half, the Cavaliers held a 40-17 lead, scoring 14 points off Immaculata’s turnovers.
Immaculata opened the second half with nine unanswered points before a layup by McLeod got the Cavaliers back on course. McLeod continued her dominance on the court, ending with an 8-of-12 performance from the field.
The Cavaliers’ largest lead, 69-39, came with a 1:54 left in the second half and the Cabrini bench scored 20 points in the final 20 minutes.
Cabrini’s shooting percentage slipped in the second half, going from 58 percent from the field in the first, to 34 percent in the second.
Immaculata improved their accuracy by five percent, going from 24 in the first, to 29 percent in the second. The Mighty Macs’ Nina Cammarano scored a game-high 17 points today.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Thursday, February 7 for a re-match at Immaculata University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
