Women's Lacrosse Drops 16-12 Decision to Ursinus

RADNOR, Pa. (April 10) - Five players scored two goals as the Cabrini College women's lacrosse team suffered a 16-12 loss to Ursinus College this afternoon.  With the loss, the Cavaliers drop to 7-2 while the Bears improve to 6-7.

Senior Katelyn Penrose, junior Amanda Alexandrowitz and sophomores Erin Nollen, Danielle Rothermel and Kellie Levy all scored a pair of goals for the Cavaliers.  In addition, Penrose led Cabrini with two assists.

Junior Christina Romano recorded five ground balls and both Romano and freshman Courtney Davis registered three draw controls.  Davis also finished with a team-best three caused turnovers.

The Cavaliers held a 36-32 advantage in shots and grabbed 18 ground balls to the Bears' 15.

Following a 1-1 tie, Cabrini built a three-goal lead with scores from Nollen, Penrose and Romano before Ursinus rattled off three unanswered to knot the score at four with 16:56 on the clock.  After two more tie scores, the Bears closed the half with two goals to hold a 8-6 lead at the break.

Less than four minutes into the second half, Cabrini evened things at nine but the Bears used a 4-0 scoring run in a six-minute span to take a 13-9 lead with 20:31 remaining in the game.

The Cavaliers twice got within three before Ursinus claimed the win.

Sophomore Kate Schmid recorded 10 saves in the net for Cabrini.

Ursinus' Kaitlin Glenn led the Bears with five tallies, scoring her 100th career goal.

Cabrini travels to Misericordia University on Saturday for a 1 p.m. contest.
