HAVERFORD, Pa. – Junior outside hitter Traci Beltz and sophomore middle Stephanie Recklau led the Cabrini volleyball team offense in two 3-0 losses against Gallaudet University and Haverford College at the Haverford College Tournament Saturday. Junior setter Lizzie Williams guided the Cavalier attack with team-high assist performances in both outings.
In match one against Gallaudet, Beltz led the Cavaliers with six kills and Recklau added four. Senior Lindsay Martin and freshman Courtney Abel tallied three kills apiece. Williams aided the Cabrini offense with 13 assists and two kills.
The Bison claimed a two-game lead with a 25-22 win in set one and a narrow 25-23 victory in set two. Gallaudet closed the match with a 25-17 triumph in the final stanza. Martin totaled a team-high 12 digs in the loss.
Versus Haverford, Beltz posted eight kills and seven digs. Williams claimed her first double-double of the season, registering 21 assists and 11 digs. Recklau and freshman Beth Gillespie tallied six kills, while Martin and rookie Alexis Doss added five each.
After a 25-13 win in the opening set, Cabrini suffered a tight 25-22 loss in set two and a 26-24 setback back in frame three. Martin led the Cavaliers' defense with 14 digs.
Cabrini remains at the Haverford Tournament Sunday, meeting Susquehanna University at 10 a.m. and Saint Mary's College at noon.
