MADISON, N.J. –
The Cabrini field hockey team captured its second win in as many tries to open the 2008 season with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory against Swarthmore College as part of the Drew University Fall Festival Sunday afternoon.

Freshman forward Lauren Alessi continued her stellar early-season play, scoring the game's first goal in the seventh minute. The tally was Alessi's third of the season and came unassisted.

Sophomore forward Desiree Umosella talled two goals, including the game's equalizer and the eventual decisive score.

After Alessi provided the Cavaliers with an early lead, Swarthmore responded, tying the game at one goal apiece after junior Hoa Pham found the back of the cage at the 17:52 mark.

The Garnet grabbed a short-lived one goal-edge after Pham tallied her second marker of the game less than six minutes following at the 23:42 mark, handing Swarthmore a 2-1 lead.

For the second straight game, Cabrini found a way to win despite being out-shot. Swarthmore held a 21-13 shot advantage on the offensive end against the Cavaliers.

Sophomore goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue collected 11 saves in the win. Katie Ashmore registered five stops for the Garnet.

Cabrini (2-0) will play its third consecutive game away from home on Thursday, September 4 at The College of New Jersey at 7:30 p.m. The Cavaliers make their home debut on Saturday, September 6 against Widener University at 12 p.m.
