Susquehanna, Saint Mary's Edge Volleyball at Haverford College Tournament

The Cabrini volleyball team opens the home portion of its 2008 schedule Thursday, September 4 against Misericordia University at 7 p.m.

HAVERFORD, Pa. –
The Cabrini volleyball team continued play Sunday afternoon at the Haverford College Tournament, suffering a 3-2 loss against Susquehanna University and 3-1 setback against Saint Mary's College (Md.).

Junior outside hitter Traci Beltz led the Cavaliers' against Susquehanna, tallying a double-double with a team-best 14 kills and 12 digs in the five-match loss. The Cabrini attack boasted five student-athletes with at least five kills.

Senior middle Kaitlyn Fetterman buried nine kills, while sophomore middle Stephanie Recklau collected five kills, including three solo blocks at the net.

Senior outside hitter Lindsay Martin posted eight kills and led the Cavaliers' defense with 21 digs. Junior setter Lizzie Williams guided the Cabrini offense with 39 helpers.

The Cavaliers owned a 2-1 match lead against Susquehanna following a 25-23 win in set one and a 25-19 victory in set three. The Crusaders evened the contest at one set each with a 25-22 triumph in the second frame.

Susquehanna again evened the match at two games apiece and forced a decisive fifth set with a 25-13 win in the fourth stanza. The Crusaders clinched the win with a 15-11 victory in the final frame.

In its final match of the weekend, Cabrini gained a one-set lead against Saint Mary's before the Seahawks rallied for the victory in four games.

Cabrini returns home to Tom Nerney Field House for its 2008 home opener Thursday, September 4 against Misericordia University at 7 p.m.
