ST. DAVID, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2008 season, falling 1-0 at backyard-rival Eastern University Saturday.
Senior Mike McDevitt and junior Andrew Jacobs registered two shots each for the Cavaliers. Junior Justin McCall, the reigning Colonial States Athletic Conference Player of the Week, recorded one shot.
Senior goalkeeper Colin Hinkelmon tallied two saves in his second start of the season. Hinkelmon manned the net in Cabrini's 7-0 season-opening win against Waynesburg University.
Eastern recorded 10 shots, led by Brian Raffle's four. He totaled the game's lone score, touching the back of the net with the game's eventual decisive score at the 83:30 mark.
Cabrini's best scoring chance came at the 75th minute with the game still scoreless. McCall's header over Eastern netminder Michael Dorsch rolled to the far post before settling and being kicked out of the box by the Eagles' defense.
The Cavaliers owned a 5-3 advantage against Eastern in corners.
Cabrini (4-1-0) returns to Edith Robb Dixon Field Wednesday, September 17 against Johns Hopkins University at 6:30 p.m.
