RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's tennis cruised to its third straight Colonial States Athletic Conference victory, sweeping Marywood University, 9-0, Saturday at the Dixon Courts.
Senior Dina DiTaranto keyed the Cavaliers' singles charge with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 win at the No.1 position. Junior Nicole Pontious posted a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 3 spot.
Rookie Michelle Lettman, the reigning Co-CSAC Player of the Week, remains unbeaten in singles play, claiming a 7-5, 6-1 triumph in the No. 6 hole. Classmate Alexis DiCamillo tallied a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 5.
Sophomore Stephanie Tighe posted back-to-back 6-4 set wins at the No. 4 spot. Senior Christine Telling battled to a 7-5, 7-5 victory.
Cabrini set the tone with a sweep doubles competition, ignited by DiTaranto and Telling's 8-1 win in the leadoff spot.
Pontious and Tighe claimed an 8-3 victory at No. 2. DiCamillo and Lettman totaled an 8-4 triumph in the three hole.
The win is the 47th straight for head coach John Magee in conference play.
Cabrini (6-1, 3-0) travels to Bryn Mawr College Wednesday, September 17 at 3:30 p.m. The Cavaliers tallied a resounding 7-2 win against BMC on September 7 at the Moravian Invitational.
