ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cabrini women's tennis team improved its record against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponents to a perfect 4-0 with a 9-0 win against Cedar Crest College Saturday. The Cavaliers have yet to surrender a match against a conference foe in 2008.
Cabrini jumped all over Cedar Crest, gaining an early 3-0 advantage following doubles play. Seniors Dina DiTaranto and Christine Telling moved their doubles record to 7-2 with an 8-4 win at the No. 1 position.
Junior Nicole Pontious and sophomore Stephanie Tighe improved to 8-1 with a commanding 8-1 victory at No. 2. Freshmen Alexis DiCamillo and Michelle Lettman also claimed their eighth win of the season, posting an 8-2 triumph in the three hole.
DiTaranto earned her sixth straight win in singles play, tallying a 6-2, 6-0 win in the lead-off spot. Telling won her fifth straight decision, recording a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 2.
Pontious improves to 6-3 with a “bagel win”, posting a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 3. Tighe is now 8-1 following a 6-2, 6-3 win in the four position.
DiCamillo earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 5 and Lettman remains unbeaten with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph in the clean-up spot.
The win marks the 48th straight for head coach John Magee against conference opponents.
It was also the fourth straight 9-0 win for the Cavaliers versus a CSAC foe, following wins against Baptist Bible College, Keystone College and Marywood University.
Cabrini (8-1, 4-0) returns home Tuesday, September 23 to meet Lebanon Valley College at 3:30 p.m.
