ALLENTOWN, Pa. –
The Cabrini men's soccer team earned its third win in as many outings to open the 2008 season with a 4-3 victory at DeSales University Wednesday night. Junior forward Justin McCall ignited an explosive Cavalier offense with three goals.

The win is the Cavaliers first of the season away from Edith Robb Dixon Field and comes against a team that has qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of the last three years, tallying at least 10 wins every season.

DeSales jumped on the visitors in the first 15 minutes, as two Derek Long scores put Cabrini in a two-goal deficit at the 14:36 mark. Senior forward Mike McDevitt's second score of the season cut the Bulldogs' lead in half, 2-1, with under 18:30 remaining before halftime.

The Cavaliers knotted the scoring at two goals apiece just 47 seconds prior to intermission with McCall's first goal of the game.

The Bulldogs regained a short-lived advantage following German Reyes' marker at the 57:02 mark. McCall's second score of the contest, off a feed from junior midfielder Evan Hanauer, tied the count at three with 21:56 left in regulation.

With the score tied, junior goalkeeper Bryan Johnson came up with a critical save on a DeSales' penalty kick with nearly 20 minutes remaining. The stop was his second on a PK in last two contests.

Cabrini erased any thoughts of an extra frame after McCall completed his hat trick, scoring his team-best fifth goal of the season at the 80:14 mark. Freshman back Jim Mattock was credited with an assist on the game-winner, his second of the game and fourth of the season.

Johnson tallied five saves in the win, all in the second half. DeSales netminder Kevin Lawrence collected two stops.

Cabrini (3-0-0) will remain on the road this weekend, meeting Wesley College on Saturday, September 6 at 4 p.m. as part of the Haverford College Tournament. The Cavaliers play the host Fords Sunday at 1 p.m.
