BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Cabrini women's tennis team improved its record to 3-1 overall following a two-match split at the Moravian University Invite Sunday, hosted by Lehigh University. The Cavaliers tallied a convincing 7-2 victory against Bryn Mawr College.
Cabrini set the tone early against Bryn Mawr with a three-match sweep in doubles play, led by the 8-3 win at the No. 2 position by Nicole Pontious and Stephanie Tighe. Seniors Dina DiTaranto and Christine Telling and rookies Alexis DiCamillo and Michelle Lettman earned 8-5 wins at the one and three positions, respectively.
DiTaranto keyed the Cavaliers singles effort, tallying a 6-2, 6-2 win at the lead-off spot. Tighe claimed a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No.4 position.
DiCamillo and Lettman wrapped up the singles slate with a 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-1 wins at the No. 5 and 6 holes, respectively.
The Cavaliers suffered their first loss of the season, falling 6-3 against host Moravian in the day's first match. Lettman earned Cabrini's lone singles win, collecting a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at the No. 6 position.
In doubles play, Pontious and Tighe claimed an 8-4 win at No. 2 and Lettman and DiCamillo tallied an 8-4 victory at No. 3.
Cabrini (3-1) begins Colonial States Athletic Conference play Monday, September 8 at home against Baptist Bible College at 4 p.m.
