RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's tennis team collected its fourth win of the season, and first in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) play, with an emphatic 9-0 victory against Baptist Bible College Monday at the Dixon Courts.
The Cavaliers raced with a 3-0 match lead following three victories in doubles play. At the No. 1 position, seniors Dina DiTaranto and Christine Telling cruised to an 8-0 win. Junior Nicole Pontious and sophomore Stephanie Tighe, and the team of freshmen Michelle Lettman and Alexis DiCamillo, tallied 8-1 wins at the No. 2 and 3 spots, respectively.
DiTaranto ignited the singles march with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph in the lead-off spot, earning her third win of the season. Pontious and Tighe claimed 6-0, 6-0 shutouts en route to their third and fourth victories, respectively, in 2008.
Lettman, named CSAC Co-Player of the Week earlier Monday, remained undefeated and reached five wins with 6-1, 6-0 decision at the No. 6 position.
Telling (6-2, 6-3) and DiCamillo (6-1, 6-0) completed the Cabrini sweep.
The win marked the 45th straight against conference opponents for Cavaliers' fifth-year head coach John Magee.
Cabrini (4-1) continues CSAC play Thursday, September 11 at Keystone College, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
