MADISON, N.J. – The Cabrini men's swimming team made its 2009-10 season debut with the Cavalier women's squad Saturday at Fairleigh Dickinson University with the University of Scranton. The Blue & White combined to record five first-place finishes.
Senior Andrea Carabello notched her second first-place performance in the 50yd freestyle in the last two meets, posting a time of 26.67 seconds. Sophomore MacKenzie Stewart also finished first for the second time in as many meets in the 100yd breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:13.83.
Carabello (58.49) also finished second in the 100yd freestyle. Senior Anne Konicki (6:12.92) posted a runner-up finish in the 500yd freestyle.
In women's relay action, the Cabrini 'A' team of Carabello, senior Shawnee Gehman, junior Emily Yurick and senior Katie Manning finished first in the 200yd freestyle relay with a time of 1:53.28.
On the men's side, junior Kyle Teliszewski posted the top time in the 500yd freestyle, clocking a time of 5:16.44. Teliszewski, with freshman Rich Dalatri, junior Bill Boylan and sophomore Neil Gogno, was also part of Cabrini's first-place performance in the 200yd freestyle relay, notching a time of 1:36.46.
In addition, Teliszewski (1:52.15) finished second in the 200yd freestyle and Boylan (1:07.14) placed second in the 100yd breaststroke.
The Cabrini men and women's swimming teams are back in the pool Saturday, November 7 at King's College. The women's squad will be part of a tri-meet with the College of Notre Dame.
