RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse team remains perfect against Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opposition, topping Immaculata University, 18-8, Wednesday at Edith Robb Dixon Field. In six conference games this season, the Cavaliers have out-scored their opponents 119-45.
Cabrini's balanced offensive attack took control early against the Mighty Macs. Five members of the Blue & White recorded four points, including three-goal and one-assist efforts from junior attack Amanda Alexandrowicz, junior attack Kellie Levy and freshman attack Jacqueline McDermott.
Junior attack Erin Nollen and sophomore attack Kristen Vernon each notched four points, pairing two goals with two assists. Sophomore attack Jaime O'Hanlon (2G) and sophomore attack Dolores Weathers (1G, 1A) each totaled two points.
The Cavaliers owned a 41-20 advantage in shots and a 36-24 edge in groundballs. Weathers led the Cabrini charge with seven groundballs. Alexandrowicz added four.
Sophomore Courtney Davis sparked the Blue & White rush off the draw, scooping a team-best four draw controls. Weathers and Vernon each collected three.
Junior goalkeeper Kate Schmid played the first half for the Cavaliers in the cage before making way for sophomore Gianna Porretta. Schmid posted seven saves en route to her eighth win of the season.
After Levy opened the contest with a score at the 28:38 mark, IU quickly answered with a goal from senior Claire Lichty just 79 seconds following. Cabrini responded with 13 unanswered tallies, securing a commanding 14-1 cushion at the 27:04 mark of the second half.
The Cavaliers closed out the first half on a 12-0 run. Alexandrowicz, Nollen, O'Hanlon and Vernon triggered the decisive spurt, each scoring two goals.
Cabrini pushed its lead to a game-high 14 goals, 16-2, after McDermott cashed in her second marker of the contest with 21:25 remaining. The Mighty Macs ran off six of the game's next eight goals, pulling as close as 17-8, but with just 61 ticks remaining.
Senior Kerri Ricker capped the afternoon's scoring with her lone goal of the contest off a nifty feed in front from McDermott.
Lichty and freshman midfielder Kacie O'Neill each recorded three points on three goals in the IU loss. Freshman midfielder Kelly Kugler added two points on two scores.
Freshman goalkeeper Brit Worthington logged more than 43 minutes and registered 16 saves, including 14 in the first half.
Cabrini (8-3, 6-0) returns to its non-conference slate Thursday, April 16 at Edith Robb Dixon Field against Rowan University. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.
