RADNOR, Pa. –
The Cabrini women's lacrosse team claimed its ninth victory in the last 10 games with a 14-11 win against New Jersey Athletic Conference foe Rowan University Thursday night at Edith Robb Dixon Field. Junior attack Erin Nollen sparked the Cavaliers' offense with five points on five goals.

Cabrini's win avenges a 15-5 road loss at the hands of the Profs in 2008. Rowan opened the 2009 season ranked No. 19 nationally in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll.

Sophomore attack Jaime O'Hanlon tallied four points on two goals and two assists. Junior attack Amanda Alexandrowicz added three points, pairing two scores with one helper.

Sophomore attack Kristen Vernon (2G) and junior attack Kellie Levy (1G, 1A) each notched two points in the win.

Cabrini held a 26-23 advantage against the Profs in groundballs led by a team-best five from sophomore defender Courtney Davis. Vernon ignited the Cavaliers out of the draw circle, winning a club-high three draw controls.

Junior cageminder Kate Schmid collected 14 saves, including nine in the opening 30 minutes, in earning her ninth win of the season. Schmid has recorded 10-or-more saves in eight of the team's 12 games this season, including six of the last seven contests.

Rowan opened the game's scoring and jumped to a 2-0 lead less than four minutes following the opening draw. The Blue & White quickly responded with six unanswered goals , securing a 6-2 lead at the 20:22 mark.

O'Hanlon keyed the contest's momentum-swinging run with two goals and one assist over a 35-second stretch. She deposited two markers separated by just 13 ticks, the second of which was finished on a circus shot right in front of the Rowan cage.

The Profs closed out the first half with three straight goals, trimming their deficit to three scores at the intermission, 9-6.

Cabrini raced from the halftime break and quickly buried three goals, regaining a six-goal advantage, 12-6, with 23:16 on the clock. Nollen cashed in three of the second half's first four tallies.

Rowan sustained the Cavaliers' punch and returned one with just as much pop, retaliating with three consecutive goals and pulling to within 12-9 at the 18:43 mark.

The Profs cut its hole to just two goals, 13-11, with 11:37 remaining. However, Alexandrowicz's third score of the contest with 8:59 remaining and Cabrini's delay approach on the offensive end iced the victory down the stretch.

Senior Lauren Crennan led the Rowan offense with four points on two goals and two assists. Sophomore Trish Harrington contributed four points, scoring one goal and dishing three assists.

Starting goalkeeper Alicia Mannino lasted more than 36 minutes, making five saves. Freshman Kerry Pehnke played 23 minutes in a reserve role, posting one save.

Cabrini (9-3, 6-0) resumes its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) schedule Saturday, April 18 at Gwynedd-Mercy College. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
